An explosion in West Lubbock sent two men to the hospital with burn injuries Thursday night. Lubbock Fire Rescue said a painting crew was working in the garage of a home near 34th and Frankford when the explosion happened.
The home was badly damaged. The back side was blown out, and the entire home has heavy smoke and fire damage.
Jesse Garza lives across the street and was pulling up in front of the house at the moment of the explosion.
"I saw the garage fire blow out from the garage and the workers looked like they were in bad shape," he said. "They were on fire. Their clothes were on fire."
Fire crews say they believe the men were spraying lacquer in the house and it may have caused the explosion.
