Lubbock-Cooper ISD students are trying to make a difference on the other side of the world.
It is all part of a district-wide fundraiser called "The Water Project" to raise money to build water wells in parts of Africa and India. The goal is to raise $6,400 over the next two weeks.
"Women and children are having to travel five miles one way and five miles back to carry forty gallons worth of water, just for them to have water," teacher Brooke McDowell said. "I want my kids to learn to that we have to not just take things for granted, that we have to think beyond what we realize as our easy, everyday conveniences."
School-wide fundraising class competitions will be taking place from Nov. 12-16.
