City Council voted six-to-zero to start the selection process for a permanent city manager. After a briefing from city staff, council decided to keep the selection process in-house instead of hiring an outside firm.

However, council down the road could decide to hire a firm, which could cost the city up to $25,000 dollars.
Mayor Glen Robertson expects the process to be lengthy. He said he wants council to take its time to find the right candidate.

"The fact we have Mr. Loomis on hand acting as city manager and he has the skills necessary to do this job we really have the luxury now that we can afford to take a much more deliberate process, and find a little bit more better suited candidate than if we would have rushed."
Councilman Victor Hernandez was absent from the meeting. City staff expects the selected candidate to start on or after October 2014.
