The phrase "Welcome home" has new meaning for a Lubbock wounded warrior.
The West Texas Home Builders Association is honoring Army veteran Louis Flores through its charitable organization called Lubbock Homes for Heroes.
Flores thanked the association members at a luncheon after learning at Texas Tech's football game against Oklahoma State that he will receive a mortgage-free home to be built in the Bacon Crest addition.
The non-profit's President Carl Russell says it's a way to say thank you to those who've served.
"Every one of these young men and women deserve everything we can do for them," Russell said. "They all have different stories; they're all unbelievably brave young men and women.>"
Flores' new home will be showcased in the Parade of Homes in June before he and his family move in.
Flores and his family visited with FOX 34 anchor Kurt Kiser Wednesday. Please click the video to the right to watch that conversation.
