Some strategic planning could mean peace of mind for your family when it comes to preventing damage from disaster.
The third annual Lubbock Preparedness Fair is an event offering the public resources to take preparation steps.
It's hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Lubbock Texas Stake and will take place on March 23 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at 7014 Frankford Ave.
Brian Payne, chair of the Lubbock Preparedness Fair, said learning how to care for a family in the event of emergency can be very helpful during severe weather.
"There's basic things that you can learn here from how to keep your house warm, how to keep your family warm..how do you even cook your food without that electricity," he said. "There's numerous just simple, practical tips that really could effect every one of the people in Lubbock in their daily lives."
The event includes around 40 displays and booths that range from child safety and gardening to emergency communication and financial planning.
Tawnya Payne, an event volunteer and Storage Specialist, said the event is free, family-friendly and will feature lots of food samples and resources.
