The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill gives patients an experience that generally only astronauts get to have. Walking on this state-of-the-art piece of equipment is like walking on the moon. In fact, it was originally designed for effective exercise regimens for NASA’s astronauts.

However, patients at UMC Team Rehab have the opportunity to utilize the cutting-edge machine. Physical Therapist Dr. Julie Bruce said the treadmill offers exceptional physical therapy for clients with orthopedic and sports injuries.

Bruce said the machine works by a process called “unweighting.” This is achieved in the AlterG by using air in a pressure-controlled chamber to gently lift the user.

Precise calibration using our patented technology allows for very specific unweighting from 100-20% of the users body weight in 1% increments.
