Shoppers probably didn't need any more reasons to get out this weekend with all the holiday discounts, but one local business owner gave them just one more.
Sign a card, get a discount, and send some holiday cheer to wounded veterans. It is something Melody Huffman, owner of Bible Barn, came up with a couple of years ago, and she couldn't make it any easier for customers. She provides the cards, and personally mails them to the VA hospital in Amarillo. She said this year, there is a little bit more meaning to it.
"I did that with a World War II veteran, Obie Lee, who was Army, U.S. Army, and a POW survivor of World War II," Huffman said. "Obie passed away on Flag Day this year, and my goal is to have more cards this year in honor of Obie than ever before."
If you're interested, there is still a chance to sign a card. Bible Barn is located at the 3400 block of 34th Street.
