Blunt force trauma was the cause of death of the Crosbyton toddler found in a cellar earlier this month, an autopsy shows.

Crosbyton Police Chief Greg Parrott, in a written statement, said the positive identity of the remains is pending. The remains are presumed to be the body of two-year-old Leah Marie Aguirre, who was reported missing early this month.

The body was found in a box wrapped in plastic in the cellar of the home of Aguirre's caregiver, Matilda Almaraz. Almaraz is jailed and charged with capital murder. Her bond is set at $1 million.
