Help is on the way for some of the workers left jobless after the closure of the Cargill plant in Plainview.

What was the largest employer in that community... ceased operations February 1st...due to tight cattle supplies caused by the drought.

Some of the the more than two-thousand employees were transferred to other Cargill facilities and some got new jobs with other companies through job fairs.

But for many still looking for employment, the US Labor Department is awarding the Texas Workforce Commission a national emergency grant to help with job re-training costs.

Rocky Brown with South Plains Workforce Solutions said details should be announced next week.
