They are years away from reaching voting age, but students at Bozeman Elementary are already getting a hands-on lesson about the election process.
Lubbock ISD schools are participating in "Project V.O.T.E", or "Voters of Tomorrow through Education". Second graders even watched some of last night's debate as part of their lessons.
Teacher Ashley Wilson said it is never too early to teach voter participation.
"It starts young and like I said, it's the same thing, as you get older, you've got to be a voter," Wilson said. "You've got to be an active participant in the local community and that's what we're teaching our kids to be, is active participants in the community."
The school is holding a mock election tomorrow, and every student will cast a vote.
