The cost of eating in the Lubbock ISD cafeterias is about to go up.

Trustees will consider a $.10 hike across the board for the 2013-14 school year. The change would affect those paying full price and reduced price meals. Elementary students would pay $.75 for breakfast and $1.70 for lunch. The secondary costs would go up to $.85 for breakfast and $1.85 for lunch.

"A $.10 increase is not a lot, given the fact that the prices are relatively low as they are, and given that even with these increases, we'll still be the lowest in all of this region," Superintendent Karen Garza said.

Administrators say a hike now will prevent an increase in 2014-15.
