He's been the Hockley County Sheriff's right hand man for more than two years. Now Paul Scarborough will take over as interim sheriff after being appointed by Hockley County Commissioners to take over for Kevin Davis, who is stepping down next week in favor of the private sector.
Hockley County Judge Larry Sprowls said after the appointment, "The Commissioners Court just made the decision that the person that needed to be in there is who is our chief deputy right now, and was brought in for that purpose of stability and continuity."
Scarborough said, "My plans are just to maintain the office, go ahead and continue to shape it and mold it, try to get it to a level that we believe is where it needs to be. We've got a good start. We've got a good crew."
Scarborough will serve as interim sheriff until the end of the year. He is among five candidates running in the primary for Hockley County Sheriff.
