A man was indicted Wednesday on a charge of child abuse, after his 16-month-old daughter was rushed to the hospital with substantial injuries earlier this month.
Johnny Julian Herrera, 27, has been held on a $500,000 bond since his arrest.
According to the arrest warrant, the toddler was unresponsive due to a serious head injury the night she was taken by paramedics to the hospital. She also had what appeared to be a bite mark on one cheek and several bruises.
Herrera reportedly told police and paramedics that he placed the child on a counter and she tumbled off.
