Former Texas Tech University President Guy Bailey is among five finalists for the job of president of New Mexico State University.

The search committee chairman gave names to NMSU regents Tuesday. Dr. Bailey announced his departure from Tech in early July to take the presidency at the University of Alabama, his alma mater. He resigned that post at the end of October, citing his wife's poor health.

New Mexico State University regents are expected to select a new president by early May.
