The National Transportation Safety Board investigators have released a preliminary report on a glider crash that claimed two lives last month.

The initial report said witnesses reported they heard a loud sound, saw the glider spinning into the ground and a portion of the right wind separated from the rest of the wing during the descent.

The glider crashed near the Littlefield Municipal Airport at about 4 p.m. on March 30th. The pilot, 79 year-old Eddie Hoglan of Plainview and his passenger, 13 year-old Taylor Brown of Littlefield died.

The NTSB investigation into the circumstances and cause of the crash is expected to take up to a year to complete.
