Four Republican candidates filed to run in the December primary for the position of judge in County Court at Law Number One.

The list includes Douglas H. Freitag, Mark Hocker, Scott Morris and David Nelson. Hocker was appointed Monday by the County Commissioners to finish out the term of the late Judge Rusty Ladd. The winner of this race will take office a year from January. No Democrats have announced for the court.
Prospective candidates have until December 19th to file. That date was moved back four days. A ruling from the Federal Court in San Antonio moved the deadline because the U.S.Supreme Court has taken up the case of the location of district boundaries.
So far only Carl Tepper has announced for Republican County Chairman. Clif Burnett and Kenny Ketner will compete on the Democratic side.
