Fines going up for illegally passing school buses

Fines are going up for for drivers in Lubbock and the rest of the state who illegally pass a school bus.

Heftier penalties go into effect September 1st for passing a school bus when its flashing lights and stop signs are active.

The maximum fine for a first offense is going up from 1,000 dollars to 1,250 dollars.
 
Drivers who violate school bus passing laws more than once, already face suspension of their licenses for up to six months.
