An elderly woman is critically injured after colliding with a train in a crossing zone. It happened Monday in the 5900 block of Southeast Drive.

83-year-old Neva Stokes, the driver of the pick-up, was traveling northbound into the city when she encountered the train, which was backing on the tracks.

For some reason Stokes didn't heed the flashing crossing signals or a flagman who had stopped traffic. Stokes drove into the train and has life threatening injuries.
The train's engineer, 28-year-old Scottie Cole Collins, was not injured.
