Saturday is the run-off election for City Council District 3. Monday night, candidates Deanne Clark and Jeff Griffith squared off in debate. The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce hosted the debate.
The city is currently considering raising property taxes to help balance the budget to cover needed costs. Griffith said if he's elected he'll be instrumental in helping balance the budget.
"I'm a small business man, I have Radio Lab. We've been in business 68 years. I assure you, I know how to look at a budget. I have served on national boards and have looked at billion-dollar initiatives. I do know what to do when it comes to city dollars."

Clark said she understands everyones utility bills are increasing, and said she will take a deeper look at all options to get a balanced budget.
"this is a painful, painful situation, when people are having to spend $400 to $700 for their utilities. Secondly, we have something called hidden taxes."

The last day of early voting is Tuesday. Election day is Saturday.
