He's no stranger to politics in this area. Former State Representative Delwin Jones of Lubbock wants to reclaim the District 83 seat.
Jones says his 30 years of service in that office and many legislative achievements make him uniquely qualified.
"I watched this area move from a ranching area, to an agricultural area, to an oil area, an education center, a medical center. I think that has given me the greatest background to qualify me to represent the area," said Jones.
Jones lost to current State Representative Charles Perry in the Republican primary in 2010.
Perry has filed for re-election.
