It's an invitation to a party few want to attend. It's the jury summons, and for so many people, it's just radioactive. Well, the whole process, whatever you need to do, is about to get a whole lot easier.
County commissioners approved what's called "electronic jury" in our county. Whatever you need to know, you could get by email, right down to knowing what time to show up.
"When they get the notification in the mail, then they can reply back with any changes or corrections, or acknowledgement that they received it," Commissioner Bill McCay said. "Then, instead of showing up at central jury pool at eight o'clock on Monday morning, they would go directly to the particular court, maybe at nine or ten o'clock in the morning."
McCay said the county will have all the bugs worked out before unveiling the system to the public.
