Family and friends lend a hand to help out two South Plains families who lost three loved ones last week.

On Friday January 10, 29-year-old Jesse Maldonado was driving with his family on 19th and Alcove. Police said he hit a dog that caused him to swerve into on-coming traffic and hit a truck.

Maldonado, his girlfriend, 27-year-old Erica Ysasaga, and their three-year-old daughter Jocelyn all died at the scene. Police said they weren't wearing seatbelts.

Their oldest daughter Priscilla is the only one in her family to survive the crash. She's hospitalized with two broken legs, an arm, and severe head injuries

Due to medical expenses their friends had a car wash to raise funds.

Hector Martinez said, "It cost a lot of money to do burial and it's a whole family. It's even harder. It's really unexplainable when stuff like this happens, but this is why we are having this benefit to help them out."

The family has set-up a way to donate for medical and funeral expense. Click here.
