It will be the Second Annual Celebrate Cotton week where Texas Tech Athletics and the cotton industry work together to get the word out about the importance of cotton to our state.
Mary Jane Buerkle with Plains Cotton Growers said this is going to be a week jammed pack with fun events and of course being capped off with the game.
"The game will be Saturday, September 21st, Texas Tech versus Texas State," Buerkle said. "So there's cotton in both areas there and you can also get your tickets to that by calling 806-742-TECH, there's also a link on our website, plainscotton.org. And if you want to get discounted tickets be sure to enter the Cotton 2013 promo code or if you call in just mention that you want the Cotton 2013 offer for tickets. So we hope to see everyone there."
Besides the game there are other events going on during the week.
On Monday, September 16th, the Texas Independent Ginners Association will be hosting their annual golf tournament to kick-off celebrate cotton week.
The tournament will be held at Lakeridge Country Club with a practice round scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Registration is a $100 and that includes the meal.
Another big event in the week will be the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce hosting their Annual Harvest Luncheon on Friday, September 20th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plains Cotton Cooperative Association in the delegate body room.
The keynote speaker will be Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples.
