The CEO for Court-Appointed Special Advocates, or "CASA," honored one of the Lubbock chapter’s most active supporters.
CASA CEO Michael Piriano spoke to Texas Tech's Omega Delta Phi fraternity. The brotherhood service and social fraternity’s philanthropy is CASA.
The agency provides volunteer advocates for children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
“We definitely need more volunteers. We want people to step forward to do this work because every child in foster care deserves to have a volunteer, deserves to have an advocate standing by them to make sure they get into a safe permanent home,” said Piraino.
According to CASA's website, each year more than 600,000 children are placed in the foster care system in the U.S.
