The ringleader and a former Hockley County Sheriff's Deputy caught up in a massive drug trafficking bust last July was sentenced in federal court.

Lead defendant Bobby Froman is ordered to serve 20 years in prison.

He pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of Methamphetamine.

Froman recruited other conspirators including several members of the "Aces and Eights" motorcycle gang to facilitate trafficking in large quantities of Methamphetamine.

Jose "Jesse" Quintanilla was sentenced to 36 months in prison.

The former Hockley County Deputy admits that he used his position to obtain sensitive law enforcement information and provide that information to the conspirators.

He also acknowledges he deterred legitimate law enforcement efforts to investigate the conspiracy and bring drug ring members to justice.

Gordon Bohannon, who was Hockley County's Chief Deputy also pleaded guilty in December. His sentencing date has not been set.

The cases against two of the 28 defendants named in the 110 count federal indictment were dismissed.

The other defendants all pleaded guilty and are either serving time or awaiting sentencing.
