The campaign trail leads a State Board of Education candidate to Lubbock.

Anette Carlisle is a longtime Amarillo ISD trustee. She's running in the Republican primary for the District 15 seat on the state board.

Carlisle says funding is just one of many problems facing public schools in Texas.

"We need to adequately fund and equitably fund the schools across the state for all kids. We've got to educate all of our kids. We have growing poverty issues, growing numbers of students who come to our schools with increased challenges," said Carlisle.

Amarillo attorney and mediator Marty Rowley is also running for the District 15 seat in the Republican primary.

Bob Craig of Lubbock is not seeking re-election.
