An attempted murder suspect from Petersburg was jailed after a pursuit and standoff with law enforcement officers ended northeast of Idalou Thursday.
It started when Hale County Sheriff's deputies were trying to serve an arrest warrant on 37-year-old Michael Akin. That warrant accuses Akin of stabbing 47-year-old Carlos Gonzales on Wednesday of Petersburg.
Deputies report Gonzales was stabbed 11 times after he went to help a man whose vehicle was stuck in mud.
An investigator who questioned Akin reported Akin told him that he was a member of the Aryan Circle prison gang, and he denied knowing anything about the assault. Records show Akin was released from prison in November after serving a 15-year sentence for a conviction on burglary of a habitation with intent to commit murder.
