A Democrat has entered the race for Lubbock County Judge.
Lubbock native Austin Carrizales said it is time to stop playing catch-up with vital services like law enforcement and road maintenance. He said he will bring a new way of thinking, a new integrity and a new emphasis on transparency to the office.
"I would like the public to have a say," Carrizales said. "I think when you have that say, our community will trust you, and I would love for that trust to just kind of build so Lubbock County is a better place.
Carrizales recently graduated from Texas Tech's Law School and has a Master's degree from Tech in public administration. He has interned with Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar and the county's Office of Dispute Resolution.
Carrizales said his background and qualifications bring a different perspective to the position of County Judge, which the Republican incumbent, Tom Head, has held since 1998.
