"Magic bullet" Come on Jeff. When reporting about the JFK assination, please mention some of the problems with believing the Warren Commission Report. You failed to mention an excellent examination of the facts on a recent History Channel report. Lelan Pack

Good journalism usually allows both sides of the issues to be discussed. When discussing the 98th Street "rework," I heard no one mention that this is about the 4th time it's been redone. Does anyone care that the citizens of Lubbock have been ripped of 4 or 5 times and now we've bought houses to redo the street again. Come on. Expose the scandal. Lelan Pack

I've long since come to accept Jeff Klotzman's lack of professionalism when he's reading the news, but would it be too much to ask for him to put his cell phone on silent when he's on the air? Every five minutes yesterday, I kept hearing the sound of him getting text messages.

This is in response to conversation on FOX TALK 950 I heard @ 6:20 PM, April 5, 2010 re: wildflowers Let’s do just a little more homework before you go off ragging on ole' west Texas.. 'only wildflowers that grow around here are dandelions..' ?? give me a break. Just a short drive, walk or bicycle ride outside the suburban grid of Lubbock you can find an amazing display of wildflowers.. and the best is yet to come. By mid-June there will be an abundance of species in full bloom, in local places where the threat of the lawn mower, plow and herbicides are not present. There are entire books devoted to the topic of wildflowers on the Llano Estacado (ever heard that term?!) Try supporting your locality and celebrate the Tahoka Daisy, Prairie Verbena, Apache Tea, Coreopsis, Texas Thistle and Blazing Star.. just to name a few natives from around here. I challenge you to put just a little bit of a constructive twist to your radio journalism, why don't you pick up the phone and contact a few people whose livelihood depends on such seemingly obscure things as wildflowers. The real challenge 'around here' is convincing land managers and property owners that wildflowers and associated native plants and the animal species (i.e., prairie dogs) have a place in our landscapes. The reason you see wildflowers along roadsides in north / central Texas is because highway departments actually consult with landscape architects in other parts of the world. Some dept's even keep an LA on staff. A couple books you could consult include: Wildflowers of the Western Plains by Kirkpatrick and Wildflowers of the Llano Estacado by Rose & Strandtmann.. Better yet, get out of the studio and take a walk through the Lubbock Lake Landmark or a bicycle ride through the trails north of Dunbar Park for a look at some fair wildflower habitat right here in the Hub City.
