The first day of October sure didn’t feel like it with temperatures approaching the record high this afternoon. Below is a look at some of our morning lows and afternoon highs from today.
We will continue with similar conditions each day the rest of the week until a cold front moves through on Friday. The cold front will pack a punch, cooling us down by about 30 degrees from our current afternoon highs. It currently looks like the front will move through late Friday into early Saturday but it is typical for this time of the year for models to not have a great read on how fast cold fronts are moving. That being said, if the front were to move through later than expected, our temperatures will be warmer on Friday and if it were to move through sooner than expected we will be cooler on Friday. Right now we have kind of taken the middle ground with the forecast high on Friday in the low 80s.
A big cool down and breezy conditions seem like a good bet as far as effects of the cold front go. Rain chances however do not look as impressive for us mainly because of a lack of moisture returning to the region ahead of the front. We won’t completely rule out a few showers forming across our southern counties especially out across the Rolling Plains as the front moves through but even those chances do not look that good right now.
After a cooler weekend with lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s we will gradually warm back to around the average values at the beginning of next week.
