Senator Ted Cruz discussed many hot issues during his visit to Lubbock. The crowd commending him for his words.

"The spirit that flows through the blood out here in West Texas."

Some topics Cruz touched on were immigration, national debt and federal budget. However, his biggest concern was economic growth. He said the federal government needs to focus on three main goals to make it happen: restraining debt, tax reform and regulatory reform. Issues he says are at the top of his priority list.

"I think the number one priority of every elected official, republican or democrat, should be economic growth." Said Cruz. "Getting our growth back. We've averaged less than one percent average growth a year for the last four years. We need to get back to historic levels of growth."

Refor is what Cruz said he is going for in Washington, but he says West Texans don't need to change much.

"West Texas is an incredible bright spot right now and it's a bright spot within Texas, which is right now, an oasis of jobs. I mean we've got a thousand people a day moving to Texas and the reason is the policies that Texas is following work," he said.

It's those policies, he said, low taxes, low regulation and encouraging small businesses that continue to elevate our state and specifically West Texas.
