New legislation aims to save lives and protect property in the instance of windstorms. Congressman Randy Neugebauer introduced his legislation today at Texas Tech's National Wind Institute.

The legislation would reauthorize the NWI's Impact Reduction Program. The program encourages government agencies like the National Institute of Science and Technology, National Science Foundation, NOAA and FEMA, to work together to help limit loss of life and property from windstorms.

Interim President Lawrence Schovanec said it was an honor to have the legislation introduced at Tech because Tech's program is at the forefront of wind research globally and nationally.
