The Lubbock Police Department promotes it's first female to officer ranks. Lieutenant Jeanelle Taveau, along with six other officers, celebrated promotions Friday.
Taveau said this is a big advancement for her career, but hopes her promotion will have further impact.
"It's going to provide me with new opportunities. Hopefully that opportunity is to set an example for others and help others along the way for their career path as well," said the first female Lieutenant.
Police Chief Roger Ellis said Taveau's promotion speaks volumes of her hard work.
In addition to the promotions, Sergeant Jim Curtis retired from the force after 25 years service.
