A man working on a road crew near Idalou was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer hauling a wide load: half of a pre-manufactured house.
The Department of Public Safety reports the truck was traveling westbound on Highway 62/82 west of Idalou, when it's load struck 20-year-old German Murguia, from Amarillo. Murguia was killed by the impact.
DPS Corporal John Gonzalez says the driver, 65-year old Harold Hamilin of Lubbock, did not realize he'd struck someone, and continued driving. He was pulled over by a DPS unit a short while later.
Gonzalez says the workers were paving the right-hand lane, while traffic was driving on the left.
The driver was not ticketed. Exactly how the collision occurred is under investigation.
