Frenship ISD police arrested a high school student on a charge of threatening to exhibit a firearm on campus.

Aaron Clinton Owens, 19, was detained Tuesday, and is now free on $10,000 bond. Andy Penney, the district's communications director, reported after a thorough investigation, FISD police concluded no firearm was located at the high school, nor were any students in immediate danger.

Parents received a notification call about the reported threat and the investigation Tuesday afternoon. Penney said the district decided to wait and inform parents to avoid any possible disruptions to STAAR testing, which is going on this week.

The school district released a statement saying, "We take the safety of our students very seriously. We are proud of our students, staff, police force, and their proactive measures in resolving this situation."
