It was a warm and windy day across the South Plains with temperatures starting off the morning in the 40s and warming into the upper 70s and lower 80s this afternoon. Below is a look at some of our morning lows and afternoon highs from today.
We saw some wind gusts in excess of 50mph today with most of us reporting wind gusts in excess of 40mph. Of course with wind this strong we saw a brown sky as plenty of dust and dirt was blown around. We expect almost identical conditions tomorrow to what we had today. Below are two graphics showing the current temperature and current wind speeds. They update several times an hour.
A cold front will move through on Sunday and now it looks like it will clear most of the area in the morning. This means temperatures will only warm into the 40s for most of us and when you factor in the northeast breeze behind the front it will feel like it is in the 20s and 30s for most of the day. We also have a slight chance for some rain but rainfall amounts will be light. It does look like any precipitation we see will be rain while there could be a wintry mix to the north of us across the Texas Panhandle.
Monday will be the coldest day of the week with temperatures starting off in the teens and only warming into the 30s and 40s. We will then gradually warm a little bit each day with temperatures back in the 70s by the end of the week.
I hope you had a great day and have a great weekend! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Caitlin will have all the forecast updates for you this weekend.
