We were socked in under clouds all day keeping the morning lows mild, and the afternoon temperatures below average.
While most of the state saw lots of rain over the past two days, we saw slim to none, officially only reporting 0.01” at the Lubbock International Airport.
Here is a link to the Texas Tech Mesonet Website showing all the rainfall totals for our region and below are some graphics created by the National Weather Service showing rainfall totals across other portions of the state.
This is from the Dallas/Fort Worth National Weather Service Office.
This is from the Austin/San Antonio National Weather Service Office.
It wasn’t all good for Texas though, as there were several Tornado reports with this storm and lots of damage caused by the strong winds and flooding.
The storm system responsible for the rain will continue to track to the east, allowing our sky to clear from west to east overnight. Thursday will be pleasant, with near average temperatures, a sunny sky, and just a light north breeze.
Winds shift to the south on Friday, and become quite breezy through the day which will help us warm to the mid to upper 60s. A cold front will sweep through late Friday afternoon/evening setting us up for a cooler day on Saturday. The cooler temperatures on Saturday will be short lived as we warm right back in to the 60s by the beginning of next week.
Be sure to join me tonight on the News at Nine for a recap of all the severe weather across the state, and a look at what is to come the rest of the week. Matt will have any updates tomorrow morning on Good Day Lubbock.
