After a cooler weekend we really warmed up today as most of us warmed into the 90s this afternoon. Below is a look at some of our morning lows and afternoon highs from today.
Similar conditions to today will continue over the next couple of days, meaning highs in the lower 90s under a sunny sky with a light south breeze. By the end of the week the wind will start to pick up and become quite breezy especially when a cold front moves through on Friday.
The cold front will pack a punch, cooling us down by about 20 degrees from our current afternoon highs. It currently looks like the front will move through late Friday into early Saturday but it is typical for this time of the year for models to not have a great read on how fast cold fronts are moving. That being said, if the front were to move through later than expected, our temperatures will be warmer on Friday and if it were to move through sooner than expected we will be cooler on Friday. Right now we have kind of taken the middle ground with the forecast high on Friday in the low 80s.
A big cool down and breezy conditions seem like a good bet as far as effects of the cold front go. Rain chances however do not look as impressive for us mainly because of a lack of moisture returning to the region ahead of the front. We won’t completely rule out a few showers forming across our southern counties especially out across the Rolling Plains as the front moves through but even those chances do not look that good right now.
After a cooler weekend with lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s we will gradually warm back to around the average values at the beginning of next week.
I hope you had a great weekend and a great start to this week! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Matt will have an updated forecast for you tomorrow morning.
