It was kind of a dreary day across the South Plains, with an overcast sky all day. It is no surprise that our morning temperatures were above average while our afternoon temperatures were below average.

The focus for this forecast will be our chances for rain overnight and on Wednesday. While scattered showers have been held to the east of Lubbock today, they will increase in coverage overnight giving everybody at least a shot at seeing some rain. That being said, it still looks like activity will be very hit or miss, with many folks being left dry. Early Wednesday morning there could be a window of a couple of hours where rain could transition to a rain/snow mix or even just snow. This would likely take place in our northern most counties and Eastern New Mexico. Accumulations would be very small, and again, for the vast majority of us this will just be a rain event. The system will push to the east during the day, and by Wednesday afternoon all activity should be held to the Rolling Plains. Keep an eye on our live radar below.
Below is a look at one of our in-house computer models which shows the setup for Wednesday.
In addition to the showers overnight, a cold front will move through giving us breezy and cool conditions. Winds from the North of 15-25mph can be expected Wednesday morning, with winds calming a bit by the afternoon.
Breezy winds will continue for the rest of the workweek with temperatures warming back into the 60s. A strong front that moves through late Friday will have us cooler on Saturday, but then we rebound back into the 60s by the beginning of next week.
Keep it right here and on FOX 34 for all the latest on our rain. I will see you tonight on the News at Nine, and Matt will wake up with you tomorrow morning on Good Day Lubbock.
