We had a low temperature of 27° this morning in Lubbock which is not only a new daily record low but also the coldest temperature we have ever seen in the month of May. After the cold start to the day it turned out to be very nice this afternoon as we warmed to the 60s and 70s under a sunny sky with a light northwest breeze. Below is a look at some of our morning lows and afternoon highs from today.

We will stay under a clear sky tonight and with a light wind our temperatures will again quickly cool down although most if not all of us will avoid another freeze. This weekend will be gorgeous with sunny to mostly sunny conditions, light wind and temperatures warming into the low to mid 70s each afternoon.

The wind shifts back to the south and will pick up next week helping to warm our temperatures back into the 80s. We will be monitoring a low pressure system that will start off the week off the west coast and eventually track east. Some models bring this system close enough to us that we could see some rain however there is still lots of uncertainty. Stay tuned!

I hope you have a great weekend and get outside to enjoy the nice weather! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Caitlin will have all the forecast updates throughout the weekend.
