After a cool morning around the average low we warmed to right around the average high this afternoon with a west/southwest breeze about 15-25mph. Below is a look at some of our morning lows and afternoon highs from today.
The west wind has brought drier air across the region which in addition to a clear sky and light breeze tonight will allow us to quickly cool down into the low to mid 40s tomorrow morning. After the chilly start to the day we will warm back into the low to mid 80s in the afternoon with a light north breeze around 5-10mph. Tomorrow of course is the Texas Tech Homecoming game and overall it will be near perfect weather for all that is going on. Below is a look at the Gameday forecast.
Clouds will start to increase late tomorrow and we could see a few storms although the much better chance of more widespread rainfall comes on Sunday. Rain chances continue through Monday as a Pacific Cold Front moves through. The storms on Monday have the potential to become quite strong, possibly even severe, so it will definitely be a day to stay weather aware. When all is said and done some areas across the region could pick up quite a bit of rainfall with some models showing multiple inches of rain especially across the Rolling Plains. Below is a forecast for total rainfall through Monday night from the Weather Prediction Center
, a branch of the National Weather Service.
A strong cold front will move through late Monday into Tuesday which will clear out most of the moisture and really cool us down. After the passage of the front lows will be in the 40s with highs in the 50s and 60s the rest of the week.
I hope you have a great weekend and Wreck’Em Tech! I will step you through the forecast tonight on the News at Nine and Caitlin will have all the forecast updates this weekend.
