MILD WEATHER ROLLS ON: We hit 69 in Lubbock yesterday, average high for the date is 54. What may be more impressive is the 47-degree temperature range in this dry air, low was 22. It's similar today, with it a little warmer this morning and slightly cooler this afternoon.

There's a weak front moving across the area this morning but it's really just shifting the wind from the west to the NE then eventually SE later today, around 5-10mph. We'll top out near 65 in Lubbock today, close to that mark around the area:

The southwest breeze will kick up next few days and make it even warmer...upper 60s tomorrow, lower 70s Thursday.

COLDER WEEKEND: A cold front will move through late Thursday, cooler air will build in Friday. This won't be as cold of air as we've already seen this season...should top out in the low 50s Friday, then 40s Saturday and Sunday.

We're also watching an upper-level storm system that'll move down the Pacific Coast this week then move our way this weekend. This should bring some showers to the area Friday night into Saturday, with the better chance staying east of our area. This looks like it'll mainly be rain. We can't rule out some wintry mix if showers continue into Sunday, but it looks like mainly rain.

CHRISTMAS WEEK: Long-range guidance shows a quiet setup for next week, with near-average to slightly above-average temps. It looks good for travel around the region through Christmas.

Have a great day. Rudy will have a full update to the forecast later today.
