THIS MORNING: It's another mild start with just a few clouds across the area, upper 60s and low 70s. The big factor in our weather next few days is a front that's now stalled over roughly the OK/KS border and stretches farther east. By the time this front gets closer to Lubbock late Saturday we'll have a better chance for thunderstorms.

TODAY: Another hot one...after 103 in Lubbock yesterday we expect about 101 today. It'll be mostly sunny, wind SW-S 10-20mph. Most of us will just see a mostly sunny hot day, but we could see an isolated thunderstorm or two somewhere north of Lubbock. This chance is pretty low, but if a storm forms it could have some hail and strong wind.

TOMORROW: Another hot day and dry for the most part...but the front will be a little farther south. With heat and humidity and possibly some weak upper-level support, there could be a few thunderstorms in the area. While the chance isn't good, we will watch the Panhandle for some large hail and strong wind. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted areas roughly Clovis to Plainview and north with the risk for severe weather tomorrow.

WEEKEND: The front will be in our area by Saturday, leading to a slightly better chance for showers and thunderstorms. It looks like Saturday's chance for storms will be late evening into the early-morning hours of Sunday, which means it may avoid the Tech Baseball game Saturday.

We've got another chance at showers and thunderstorms late Sunday into Monday. It won't be nearly as hot Sunday or Monday, though it'll begin to heat back up by next Tuesday and Wednesday. It'll also be mostly sunny middle of next week.

For the Super Regional at Dan Law Field there is a slight chance for rain or thunderstorms through the weekend. But if everything plays out the way it looks right now these games may be timed just right with the best timeframe for storms late Saturday night into Sunday morning, then later Sunday and later Monday. Check back here for better timing as we get closer.

Rudy will have the latest forecast update here later today.
