THIS MORNING: It's a nice cool start...at least by August 1 standards. There are clouds moving this way from New Mexico and it's humid, but no rain here. Temperature in the upper 50s to low 60s, wind just about calm.
TODAY: We'll see a mix of sun and clouds, high in the mid 80s...wind E 5-12mph. There could be an isolated shower over the western South Plains, but most likely the rain will stay west of the state line. Here is the area forecast:
NEXT FEW DAYS: It'll be a gradual warming trend through the weekend, back to the upper 80s Sunday, closer to 90 by Monday or Tuesday. There's going to be more heavy rain across New Mexico, flash flood watch across much of the state. It doesn't look like that rain will move this way.
It'll get a little hotter by the middle of next week...really just back near the average high. We have seen some signs of rain here by middle of next week, but it doesn't look good at this point.
TROPICS: We do have tropical storm Bertha approaching the Caribbean. Doesn't look like a threat to the Gulf, forecast carries it east of the Bahamas and curves it out to open waters near Bermuda.
Have a great day. Rudy will have a full update to the forecast here later today, Caitlin will have the updates this weekend.
