THIS MORNING: It's a milder and somewhat breezy start this morning, at least warmer than what we had yesterday. Most of the area is in the 30s with some high clouds over the Panhandle.
WINDY TODAY: The SW wind will pick up to around 15-28mph this afternoon with gusts 35-40mph. The wind might be strong enough to pick up some dust this afternoon. It'll top out in the upper 50s to low 60s:
STRONG FRONT: A cold front will move down into the Panhandle tomorrow afternoon, and will likely start edging into our area during the afternoon. Lubbock should warm to the mid to upper 50s, with only 40s north of Plainview, 30s around Amarillo. Of course, if the front gets here earlier it'll be colder. The gusty west wind will become northerly around 10-22mph.
Behind the front the temperature will drop quickly. It'll be in the upper teens Sunday morning, wind chill in the single digits. We'll only reach about 35 Sunday, then will likely be freezing all day long Monday. The temperature will gradually warm Tuesday and Wednesday on a SW breeze.
There will be some light snow along and north of I-40 in the Panhandle. We can't rule out a few flurries here, but it doesn't look like a good setup for snow here.
LONG-RANGE: Looking ahead to next weekend, computers are showing a storm system moving this way that could bring rain. It's too far out to know if this will pan out, but we'll be watching this in the coming days.
Have a great weekend. Rudy will have your update later today, then Caitlin will have your weekend forecast. I'll be out early next week, will be back Wednesday.
