RECORD COLD: It's another hard freeze this morning. The record for today's date was 30, we've been down to 25 in Lubbock this morning. It's also the latest day in the spring we've gotten down to 25 degrees over about the past century in Lubbock. It's freezing area-wide, with some teens over the SW Panhandle. A light north wind has dropped the wind chill to the teens in Lubbock.
TODAY: Lots of sunshine with line with a light wind. It'll be close to 60 across most of Texas. Lubbock's high near 61, E/SE wind 5-12mph. Here are the projected highs for the area:
NEXT FEW DAYS: The mornings and afternoons will get warmer, upper 60s tomorrow then 80s beginning Friday. There is an upper-level storm system moving in from the Desert Southwest. By the time it gets here late tomorrow the lift will be weak and there won't be much moisture in place. It should increase clouds late tomorrow into early Friday, but not much more than an isolated sprinkle is expected.
WEEKEND: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy each afternoon, high in the low to mid 80s. The weather will be good for any outdoor activities. There are big differences in the guidance between the American GFS model and the European model. So much so that the confidence in either one of the solutions is low. The GFS shows the dry line getting active beginning Sunday, leading to some storms each afternoon. Euro is dry. The Euro has shown for the past few days some rain by Tuesday, ahead of a front. The GFS is faster with the front and dry.
All that back-and-forth means the chance for rain is low for the next week.
Rudy will have an update to the forecast later today. Have a good one.
