THIS MORNING: A cold front has moved through the area, now stretching across Central Texas up into western parts of New Mexico. Behind the front we have the temperature in the low-mid 60s with a slightly gusty NE wind, mostly cloudy. There's no rain around Lubbock but scattered showers and storms across New Mexico.
TODAY: A big change from yesterday, when we hit 94. High near 80 in Lubbock, NE wind 10-15mph. After a cloudy start we should see a few more breaks through the afternoon. An isolated shower or storm is possible today or tonight across the western South Plains, but the main setup for rain is across New Mexico.
NEXT FEW DAYS: It's a slow climb on the temperature. The average high is 93 this weekend, 92 next week. We probably won't get to that average mark until about next Tuesday. High in the 80s tomorrow through at least Sunday.
We expect low 60s tonight with a few upper 50s mixed in. If we didn't have so many clouds tonight we'd expect about 57 or 58 in Lubbock. This is a pretty big change thanks to the strong front.
Have a great day. Rudy will update this forecast later today.
