WINDY TODAY: The wind is already picking up across the Texas Panhandle this morning. The wind will be strongest here late morning into early afternoon, sustained from the NE at times over 25mph, gusting around 35mph. The northerly wind will gradually back off this afternoon. High today in Lubbock near 55, here is the area forecast:
EXTENDED OUTLOOK: A large ridge of high pressure will stay across the western United States. This means the storm systems and associated precipitation will stay over the eastern third of the nation. It'll be sunny here into next week. A few fronts will briefly knock the high down to the mid 50s, but then it warms up the following days.
The longer-range guidance shows this pattern will likely be in place for at least the next 10 days, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was like this for the next two weeks.
Have a great day. Rudy will have another check of the forecast later today.
