THIS MORNING: We start with drizzle and light rain around the area. Unfortunately, it's once again been light rain around the city. The Texas Panhandle and Concho Valley both have better than 2" of rain, while it's lighter here. Here are some of the top 24-hour rain totals in the area:

Northfield 0.96"
Denver City 0.83"
Caprock Canyons 0.72"
Lamesa 0.67"
Roaring Spring 0.61"
Friona 0.57"
Brownfield 0.27"
Hobbs 0.22"

TODAY: Showers and drizzle will continue over parts of the area this morning with gradual clearing through the afternoon. High today near 75 in Lubbock. Wind NE 10-20mph.

A nice, clear evening is on the way. An isolated shower is possible for the first part of the football games down in the Permian Basin and Big Country, including Coronado down in Abilene. For the South Plains kickoff near 70 falling to the mid 60s late.

WEEKEND: Dry air builds in, which will lead to cooler mornings in the mid 50s, afternoons in the 70s and 80s.

NEXT WEEK: It'll get warmer Monday through Thursday, lots of sunshine each day. It looks like the next front may get here some time late next week or next weekend, too far out for any specifics.

TEXAS TECH FORECAST: A beautiful day at Jones Stadium, high near 80. The dry air will let the temperature fall nicely through the evening.

Have a great weekend and Guns Up! Rudy will have your forecast update later today, Caitlin will have your forecasts this weekend.
