BREEZY TODAY: Behind a cold front it's going to stay cool and breezy today. This morning the NW wind has been sustained about 15-20 mph, dropping the wind chill into the teens. The wind should be strongest mid-day, NW/N wind up to 25mph and gradually backing off into the afternoon. High in Lubbock near 46, here are the area forecast highs:
It drops off to the low-mid 20s tonight, possibly some teens to the northwest. It'll be slightly warmer tomorrow, high in the low 50s. Keep in mind the average high is 62.
FRIDAY: A weak upper-level disturbance will move through in the northerly flow aloft. It should lead to an increase in clouds. Some models are showing rain or snow, but the limiting factor appears to be moisture. For now we expect perhaps a few sprinkles or flurries, but the chance for measurable precip is low. If better moisture returns then it would boost the chance for rain or snow. It'll be cool, with the high in the 40s.
LOOKING AHEAD: If you're wanting warmer weather it returns Sunday and Monday, back into the 70s with a gusty SW wind. There isn't a good chance for rain or snow over the next week. Right now both the GFS and European models show a shot at some rain late next week. It's too far out for specifics, but we'll be watching that for hopefully some more rain.
Have a great day! Rudy will have a full update to the forecast later this afternoon.
